AUBURN UNIVERSITY
Originally, the East Alabama Male College (EAMC), the campus and town were located in Macon County, AL. With Tuskegee, AL as the County Seat. However, through an act of the State Legislature, new counties were formed to reduce the size of Macon County, including: Bullock, Russell and the new Lee County. With name changes of Alabama Agricultural and Mechanics (Alabama A&M), then Alabama Polytechnic Institute (API), it finally in 1960 became Auburn University.
